A Very Long Evening

Last night went something like this...

Joe comes home a little early to watch a movie with Bash and carve pumpkins. Joe goes upstairs and notices the snake cage open.....so much for family time watching a movie. Sebastien comes running downstairs screaming for a flashlight because Butterscotch is loose. (Butterscotch is our 4 foot snake) After I recover from the shock, I get the boys flashlights. Sebastien admits to opening the cage when his friend was over that morning, so the snake has been out for about 9 hours. I try not to panic and join in on the hunt. (there is no way I will sleep with a 4 foot snake slithering around)

One hour later....no snake

Two hours later.....no snake

Three hours later....... every stone unturned, refrigerator moved, closets emptied, Joe pissed, Kristyn worried, Sebastien (who is now asleep) moved out of his room so we can hunt through the mass of toys......we find Butterscotch.

He was in Sebastien's top dresser drawer, under a pile of clothes.

What I learned today: I need a lock for the snake cages.

I hope the locks are on order. I'd rather snuggle up to someone else NOT Butterscotch!!!!!!!!!!! If I have to, I'll take snake roll call before bedding down for the night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
